How to find the best driving instructor or driving school.

 

Well, now you are ready to go on the road, but not sure how to get the best value for money driving lessons and a driving instructor that will work with you. So how do you know what is best! The hardest way is to find the cheapest or try many as you can.

 

To get you started on your long journey to become a competent and safe driver.  Here are the simple tips to help you to reduce the time, pain and money.

 

Top tips:

 

  • 1st and most by recommendation from friends and family who have used the services.
  • Do your own research about driving instructors.
  • Is the lesson on a One to One driver training?
  • What is the average going rate per hour in your area?
  • Beware of cheap driving lessons; ask the question if it’s too cheap – why?
  • How long has the driving instructor been teaching?
  • Is the driving instructor fully qualified or trainee (ADI- PDI).
  • Is the driving lesson Full hour!
  • What is the driving instructor grading? Set by the DSA more info
  • Does the instructor know the area?
  • Does the instructor know the test routes?
  • Does the instructor sit in on driving test?
  • Are there any customer satisfaction guarantees or policies set-out?

Did you know! All ADI's are checked by the DVSA who conduct the driving test also periodically check their ADIs for standards, it's called 'Standard test’ the old name was ‘check test' and grade them  A or B old was grade 1 to 6.

1. Applying for your first provisional driving licence in UK

 

Apply only via the official DVLA website ( Gov.uk )

You must be at least 15 years and 9 months old

Read a number plate 20 meters away

Provide an identity document

National insurance number

Apply online cost less then post ( DVLA )

Normally your licence should arrive within one week when applying online

Yes on the front and back of the car

 

Can I learn with my friends and family?

Yes, provided they do not charge and must be over 21 years old.

Have had a full driving licence for 3 years.

 

What side of the road should I drive on?

In countries like U.K where one driving on the left-hand side of the road means that the driver's seat is on the right-hand side of the car. So one way to rem' it is to say "I need to keep close to left foot path or kerb".
